Since the first known case of COVID-19 in Tanzania was confirmed until now, a total of 509 infected people and 21 deaths have been officially registered.

Currently 7 people are critically hospitalized and fortunately 183 have already been recovered. Let us remember that these data are the officially offered by different administrations from Tanzania.

The current population of Tanzania is 56,313,438, based on latest World Bank and United Nations data.

In Tanzania, the rate of infection stands at 0.9 cases per 100,000 people, therefore, as of today, it is estimated that the 0.0009% of the population is officially infected.

World Health Organization (WHO) has estimated that the coronavirus kills about 3.4% of the people it infects. But that death rate varies between countries and across age groups. It’s also likely to change over time.

Comparing WHO estimations against the Tanzania death rate, over the total number of patients, which is 4.13%, we see a difference of 0.73%.
