Since the first known case of COVID-19 in Cameroon was confirmed until now, a total of 2,954 infected people and 139 deaths have been officially registered.
Currently 28 people are critically hospitalized and fortunately 1,553 have already been recovered. Let us remember that these data are the officially offered by different administrations from Cameroon.
The current population of Cameroon is 24,050,000, based on latest World Bank and United Nations data.
In Cameroon, the rate of infection stands at 12.28 cases per 100,000 people, therefore, as of today, it is estimated that the 0.0123% of the population is officially infected.
World Health Organization (WHO) has estimated that the coronavirus kills about 3.4% of the people it infects. But that death rate varies between countries and across age groups. It’s also likely to change over time.
Comparing WHO estimations against the Cameroon death rate, over the total number of patients, which is 4.71%, we see a difference of 1.31%.
